gdb-5.3 has been added to portage.  Currently marked unstable.  Please test 
this new ebuild and let me know if things work for you.

There is some error with this ebuild. It places one file on the /var/tmp/portage
tree after installing.

# qpkg -l gdb

I have updated the ebuild to not include the man patch.
Please comment on this bug and mark it RESOVLED VERIFIED if you have
no further problems or REOPENED if you have further problems.
