Description Thomas Scheffler 2006-01-31 13:37:33 UTC
Using modular x.org (7.0) with firefox 1.5 on several machines I never had this bug except on my notebook which has a savage graphics chip. It doesn't show up on any other application except Firefox 1.5 as far as I can say.

And here is my description how I can ALLWAYS reproduce this (anoying) bug.

I load a page (which doesn't matter) that is big enough so that it has to be scrolled which I do via the scroll wheel on the mouse. Now whatever the mouse cursor touches breaks. There is some kind of magic rectangle around the cursor, so it isn't exactly the cursor form that is visible in the glitches but this rectangle. I made a screenshot of it which I will post.

Here is my emerge --info:

Screenshot of a Firefox rendering

This Screenshot shows the graphic glitches produced by Firefox (or the savage driver -- or both)

Uhm, and what kind of fix do you expect from us? This needs to go upstream...
Comment 3 Thomas Scheffler 2006-01-31 14:05:53 UTC
I don't know what you mean with "upstream". What kind of fix do I expect? Of cause a fix that fixes this bug. ;o)

As I didn't see any related bug in the bugzilla database I decided to report it. I'm really not sure what the source of this bug is: Firefox 1.5 or the Savage graphics driver in x.org.
I am willing to help to nail it down which of them causes the issue but for now I don't know how. I hope that this is a good place to find others with the same bug in another program or with another x.org driver.
Comment 4 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-31 16:06:12 UTC
Please file a bug in the xorg product at bugs.freedesktop.org and post the URL here so we can track it.

Thanks!
