Description Peter Green 2006-01-31 05:13:28 UTC
I have emerge hplip, the sane dll.conf file has only hpaio not#.
The /usr/lib/sane has libsane-hpaio.so, libsane-hpaio.so.1 and libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 listed as 0B Unknown. I think this is a bug can any one help me.

Since this library is not part of sane-backends I'd like to reassign it to the printing herd.

Hello,

Would you please try re-emerging net-print/hplip?
It works for me.

Please test both =net-print/hplip-0.9.7-r3 and =net-print/hplip-0.9.8 to be sure.

$ ls -lh /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 27 Feb  7 14:22 /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 -> /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1

lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 22 Feb  7 14:22 /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1 -> libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0
$ ls -lh /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 31 Feb  7 14:22 /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 -> /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0

Thx for your suggestion.

I have tryed reemerging hplip and than typing this command:
ls -lh /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 && ls -lh /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1 && ls -lh /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 && equery b /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 && scanimage -L

gave me this results:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Mar  6 00:30 /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 -> /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Mar  6 00:30 /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1 -> libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 31 Mar  6 00:30 /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 -> /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0
[ Searching for file(s) /usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 in *... ]
net-print/hplip-0.9.8-r2 (/usr/lib/sane/libsane-hpaio.so.1 -> /usr/lib/libsane-hpaio.so.1)
device `hpaio:/usb/psc_1200_series?serial=HU37ACQ24X5H' is a hp psc_1200_series multi-function peripheral

wich is same as in your case

BUT the media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.17 still fails:
make[1]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/sane-backends-1.0.17/work/sane-backends-1.0.17/backend'

I'm stumped. Patrick, any idea what could be causing this problem?

jaBo, as far as I can tell sane-backends does not depend on hplip, so another idea to try would be to unmerge hplip and try emerging sane-backends again. I did a quick check for "hpaio" in sane-backends's source code and did not find anything useful. :-(

thx, but when I try that:
emerge -C hplip && emerge sane-backends
sane-backends still fails.
so I guess I ll just keep the lower version of sane-backends and mask 1.0.17.
bye
