I've unmerged all plugins to ensure that wasn't the problem, and I've also checked that libao wasn't selected for audio output (something on the Gaim website about libao not working well), so that shouldn't be the problem either. Doesn't this ebuild list "lava" amongst its side effects? Problems with gaim-2beta shouldn't be reported here...
beta2 removed from tree, please re-open if beta3 still crashes with same results
