Emerging something does not change the minimized terminal title, it simply stays "user@host:~". Maximized it works fine. I just updated to gnome 2.12, before that I didn't notice any problems. So I'm not 100% sure if the problem lies with portage or gnome-terminal/panel. If the application is changing the title depending its state, it's an issue with that application.
(In reply to comment #1) > If the application is changing the title depending its state, it's an issue > with that application. > I'm not an expert in these matters, but I noticed that when I ssh to another box, the gnome-terminal title DOES change. So that would lead to the conclusion that its portage who isnt changing the terminal title properly?
This has been fixed as of a few revisions ago in the overlay. Please sync and test.
(In reply to comment #3) > This has been fixed as of a few revisions ago in the overlay. Please sync and > test. > Sync what and test what? I'm already running the latest x86 portage, you are referring to the latest ~x86 portage?
This bug should not have been marked as fixed. @reporter: can you give us a list of steps to reproduce the problem? Thanks.
(In reply to comment #5) > This bug should not have been marked as fixed. > > @reporter: can you give us a list of steps to reproduce the problem? > > Thanks. > Euh. There aren't much steps. Portage 2.0.45 + gnome-terminal 2.12.0. Emerge a random thing, minimize the terminal to the taskbar and it will only show "user@host:~" instead of "emerging 1/1" etc. Maximized it works fine.
Currently running portage-2.1_pre6-r3, gnome-terminal title bar still doesn't show a thing when minimized. The option allowing the program running in the terminal to dynamically set a terminal title is ENABLED.
If you could please try again with gnome-terminal-2.14 to see if the bug is still there. R

I just made "emerge util-macros kbproto", minimized the terminal with 4 tabs but emerging tab activated, and the tittle changed correctly (emerging, finnished, unmerging...). I'm using gnome 2.15.90 with gnome-terminal 2.15.3. No response from the original reporter. I can't reproduce the problem with a recent gnome-terminal, and as per comment #9, assuming it's fixed now.
