Added custom ksplash to kde3.5, 'default' splash is still shown. Deleting/renaming the folder containing the 'default' splash then allows the splash screen selected in the control panel to load correctly. Am having same result on 2 systems. emerge info: Portage 2.1_pre3-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.15-suspend2-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-suspend2-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre15 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -pipe -O2 -fweb -frename-registers -fforce-addr -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -fomit-frame-pointer -ftracer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -pipe -O2 -fweb -frename-registers -fforce-addr -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -fomit-frame-pointer -ftracer -fvisibility-inlines-hidden" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://212.219.56.146/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://212.219.56.152/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://212.219.56.162/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/" LINGUAS="en" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac acpi alsa arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cddb cdparanoia cdr crypt cups dbus dga dhcp dio directfb divx4linux dri dts dv dvd dvdr dvdread dvr3 encode exif fbcon fbsplash ffmpeg firefox flash foomaticdb gd gdbm ggi gif gimpprint gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk2 hal howl icq ieee1394 imlib innodb jabber jack java javascript jpeg jpeg2k kde kdeenablefinal kdexdeltas kqemu lcms libwww live lm_sensors logitech-mouse lzo mad mikmod mime mjpeg mmx mmxext mono mp3 mpeg mplayer mppe-mppc musepack musicbrainz ncurses network nls noamazon nptl nptlonly nsplugin nvidia odbc ogg oggvorbis on-the-fly-crypt opengl pdflib perl pic png ppds python qt quicktime rdesktop readline real rtc samba scanner sdk sdl skey slp snmp spell sse sse2 ssl svga symlink szip tcpd theora threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb v4l vcd vim-with-x visualization vorbis wifi win32codecs x86 xcomposite xine xinerama xml xml2 xscreensaver xv xvid zeroconf zlib elibc_glibc kernel_linux linguas_en userland_GNU" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
Still the case as of kde 3.5.2
I confirm this on KDE 3.5.4.
Just a wild guess: could this be related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76683 ? i.e. that your theme identifier and the directory name that contains the theme files are not identical? From the KDE-docs (3.5.6): Ensure that the name of the directory that contains the theme files (~/.kde/apps/ksplash/Themes/MyCoolTheme in this example) and the identifier ([KSplash Theme: MyCoolTheme] in this example) of the theme in the Theme.rc file are identical. Otherwise, KSplash will not recognize the theme.
Is this still a problem for you? I just tried (using 3.5.6) and it worked fine for me. If it is still a problem, please attach the splash screen and describe what you did exactly.
