Description Hasan Khalil 2002-12-11 20:11:36 UTC
in the ebuild, there is a misfiled dependency; I commented out the
gnome-control-center dep manually and have had no problems with gdkxft
(including those described on other bugs, forums, etc.).

This is masked because it has "issues" with software, its crash prone and isn't
updated to Xft-2 the way our maintained packages are.

I'm not inclined to fixing the package, the mask should remain (I once did the
mistake of unmasking this and got hell and burning legions of bugs after me. I
dont want that again ;)

I see.... Yes after a while now i began to see bugs with Fidelio and Phoenix.
All I had to do was set LD_PRELOAD="" when launching those. Anyways, all works
well without the gnome-control-center, as it *is* a misfiled dependency. This
has been confirmed with several others. Thank for your update, and as long as
you keep it in the portage tree I'm more than happy, but if you could still
remove the misfiled dependency in the ebuild that'd be wonderful.

should look into it sometime.. when im bugs short ;)
Comment 4 Hasan Khalil 2003-01-13 00:37:14 UTC
All that should be necessary is a one-line edit on the ebuild - I remove the
gnome-control-center dependency and it worked.

No..
this package has some borkage and is unsupported, do note.

Another fact is that it -does- install a gnome-control-center applet for the
configuration of fonts. this is a gnomecc one and so it should depend on the old
version.

I will not touch this.
