Yeah, turns out we need gnome-base/gnome-common now, since we're doing autotools stuff. I've added the dep to muine-0.8.3-r1. Marking this FIXED< please feel free to re-open if installing gnome-common first doesn't solve this (95% sure it will). Thanks for the report!

This fix did not get moved to muine-0.8.4 and I got the same error. emerging gnome-common fixed it.
