Description Abraham Marin Perez 2006-01-22 09:48:10 UTC
I performed an update world and since then no pango related application works. In fact, not even Gnome nor GDM would work, when I try tu ran X with GDM it just blinks for a while and then a message like the following appears (the original message is in Spanish, so I'll try to translate it):

X server was interrupted about 6 times during the last 90 seconds. We'll try to run X again on screen:0 after 2 minutes.

But it fails the same way.

If I try tu run Pango applications (like Gaim) from an XTerm in Xsession I get an error message and the execution aborts (see attachments for the error message). Among other things, it complains about file /etc/pango/pango.modules and suggests to run pango-querymodules to regenerate it; if I do so, some error messages appear and pango.modules file keeps unchanged. See attachments for pango-querymodules errors and for pango.modules file.

I read on Gentoo Forums that re-emerging pango and cairo would solve similar problemas, but it didn't work in my case. I have the latest stable version of both them, and also of GDK.

Have you tried recompiling pango?

emerge --oneshot pango

Also, try running revdep-rebuild

Yes, as I said, I re-emerged both cairo and pango, but it was useless. I also tried with revdep-rebuild, but it made no changes either (in fact, none of the packages with broken dependencies were related with Pango).

OK guys, after unmerging and re-emerging loads of stuff it seems it decided to work again... Don't ask me what the problem was though :P.

I'll close this bug unless anyone desagrees.
