Description Dima Ryazanov 2006-01-20 18:22:13 UTC
I noticed that KDE's media:// KIO claims that my root partition, /dev/hda3, is unmounted. I checked the output of "lshal", and saw this:

udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_65b4e953_c52c_4830_88e4_b5ee958193bb'
  volume.policy.desired_mount_point = 'idedisk'  (string)
  volume.policy.mount_filesystem = 'reiserfs'  (string)
  volume.policy.should_mount = true  (bool)
  info.udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_65b4e953_c52c_4830_88e4_b5ee958193bb'  (string)
  volume.partition.msdos_part_table_type = 131  (0x83)  (int)
  info.product = 'Volume (reiserfs)'  (string)
  volume.size = 16483461120  (0x3d67da800)  (uint64)
  volume.num_blocks = 32194260  (0x1eb3ed4)  (int)
  volume.block_size = 512  (0x200)  (int)
  volume.partition.number = 3  (0x3)  (int)
  info.capabilities = {'volume', 'block'} (string list)
  info.category = 'volume'  (string)
  volume.is_partition = true  (bool)
  volume.is_disc = false  (bool)
  volume.is_mounted = false  (bool)
  volume.mount_point = ''  (string)
  volume.label = ''  (string)
  volume.uuid = '65b4e953-c52c-4830-88e4-b5ee958193bb'  (string)
  volume.fsversion = '3.6'  (string)
  volume.fsusage = 'filesystem'  (string)
  volume.fstype = 'reiserfs'  (string)
  block.storage_device = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_VNC402A4C9NY0A'  (string)
  block.is_volume = true  (bool)
  block.minor = 3  (0x3)  (int)
  block.major = 3  (0x3)  (int)
  block.device = '/dev/hda3'  (string)
  linux.hotplug_type = 3  (0x3)  (int)
  info.parent = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_VNC402A4C9NY0A'  (string)
  linux.sysfs_path_device = '/sys/block/hda/hda3'  (string)
  linux.sysfs_path = '/sys/block/hda/hda3'  (string)

There are in fact these lines there:
  volume.is_mounted = false  (bool)
  volume.mount_point = ''  (string)

Here is the line in my /etc/fstab:
/dev/hda3               /               reiserfs        noatime,acl     0 0

And in /etc/mtab:
/dev/hda3 / reiserfs rw,noatime,acl 0 0

However, /proc/mounts has something weird:
rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0
/dev/root / reiserfs rw,noatime 0 0
(Is that a problem with the kernel??)

I'm using HAL version 0.5.5.1-r3.

My emerge --info:

fixed in hal-0.5.7 which is masked in the tree currently. It was a HAL & kernel bug.
