there's no 2.3.x in the tree, don't think amd64 can be a great help here

Looks like I forgot to add it, if anybody wants to help fixing it I'll send put an ebuild either in the devspace or in tree.

Luca, can you reproduce this problem with gimp-9999?

Please attach the output of `emerge --info` and `emerge -pv =gimp-9999`.

You mentioned upstream bugzilla in comment #1. Did you file an upstream bug about this?
