Description Charles Christie 2006-01-17 15:13:11 UTC
Whenever a package fails to install, the GLI crashes. Is there any way to isolate it so that it only fails during critical package fails like portage or things from certain package groups? because the installer should NOT die because a game didn't fail. (Stepmania and xjump shouldn't kill installs.)

First, it doesn't *crash*. Second, when it's installing extra packages, the rest of the install is already complete. An install failure there still results in a bootable system.

Also, there's really no reliable way to know if a package was the main package (specifically asked for), if it was a dependency, or both or to gracefully remove the rest of the dependencies of a failed package and continue on with the rest of the packages properly.

Moving to Release Media/Installer.
