mail-client/mail-notification-2.0 after boot for the first time when new mail arrives the notification is in place. after that sometimes it appears in the right place, sometimes on the top left of the screen. i got a session when it appeared for about 20 times (for 20 new mails) on the top left. it's build-in test is allways on it's correct place. i experienced this only with version 2.0.
I have a suspicion this is a feature ;) It could well be intelligent popup placement. I would try experimenting with placing windows in different places, and then calling the popup and seeing where it is displayed. I'm not going to have time to play with this till the weekend.
it might be a feature. :) i have windows maximized for most of the time. anyways, i downgraded to 1.0.
According to the README: * An unidentified bug, probably in the Metacity window manager, may sometimes cause the mail summary popup to be misplaced.
As it seems the bug is fixed in mail-notification-3.0.
