I have a sound blaster live! soundcard that obvioulsy uses the emu10k1 audio driver. When I tried to get it to work using the xfs-sources-r2 kernel, it refuses to load the module. If i build it with the support built into the kernel, sound does not work either. It refuses to recognize that my card exists. To fix this problem, I simply upgraded my kernel to 2.4.20 applying an xfs patch from SGI's website, and my sound card now works just fine. However, it should work with xfs-sources-r2 nonetheless.
could you perhaps provide a `strace insmod emu10k1` ?
Hm, did you use the internal oss/free driver of emu10k1 or ALSA? The Problem with ALSA modules is that your soundcard module refuses to load if you build the common soundbase (soundcore) directly into the kernel. Anyways, a new xfs-sources release (based on kernel 2.4.20) is right on the way. :)
whats up with this?
we're going to need more info from the user ... you say 'refuses to load' we need the output of a `modprobe emu10k1` run
