mydns define some "personal" checks in "m4/mydns.m4", these one are a bit outdated, since they check only for libmysqlclient.so.{10,12}.
MySQL 5.0 provide .15 instead (but it link by default to libmysqlclient.a).

MySQL AB provide "mysql_config" to check, already many packages make use of this (the patch here provided has cut/pasted from dev-db/mysql-administrator-1.1.5)
