There is no support in the ALSA intel8x0 driver for the relatively new Nvidia MCP51 onboard card. It registers as "nVidia Corporation MCP51 AC97 Audio Controller (rev a2)" in lspci. It is based off of Realtek ALC655, so I don't think adding support is really a difficult matter.
Such requests need to be made upstream - https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/login_page.php
Created attachment 77104 [details, diff] Possible fix to add support for MCP51. Attached is a patch I've written based upon a thread (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-3031189.html#3031189) on the Gentoo Forums. I'm not a coder by any means, so I'm not extremely familiar with any of that jargon. However, I know the patch makes sense. I haven't tested this on any other platform except the AMD64 which I use.
