Hello, I know there have been discussions about the subject, but it seems I can't really search the archives yet, just what google showed me, so I'm asking it again, what can I do about this error ? Following are some lengthy debug messages, sorry for that... I don't have any root access on the remote server, but as long as I can connect from the redhat box, I shouldn't need root on it. Please help...
i remember seeing this thread ... did you try what 1 user suggested ? deleting known_hosts in ~/.ssh/ ?
Yes I did, but that didn't help... I've even deleted everything in /etc/ssh/ and created an empty sshd_config in there, and restarted sshd, so it would start with its default options, just to make sure I didn't modify any setting I shouldn't have had to...
were you *ever* able to log into said machine via Gentoo ?
Yes, I was, until a week ago, when that machine was reinstalled. BUT, I could and I still can connect to it from the redhat box...
I tested a couple of combinations and it turned out that openssl needs to be compiled with restrictive/normal optimizations (-march=i686 -O3 -pipe), but openssh works with what I currently use: -march=i686 -O3 -pipe -fforce-addr -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -frerun- cse-after-loop -frerun-loop-opt -malign-functions=4 Sorry for all the trouble...
