I first discovered this bug with the gnome mini-commander-applet. I can add it to the panel, but if i enter something into it, it does just nothing. Now, I have the same problem with galeon. If I set the option to use sylpheed-claws (or anything else) as external mail client and click on an email-adress, nothing happens. Seems to be that for some reason, the gnome-functions for running external programs don't work.
Additional Info: If I run galeon from the console and click on a mail adress, i get the following: Gnome-Message: res is -1 instead of 4 Gnome-Message: gnome_execute_async_with_env_fds: returning -1
I think it's probably a gnome1 vs 2 thing. What versions are you using ? And what is your general desktop at ? (c'mon , you're a dev.. you should've known to provide those in the first place ;))
galeon is version 1.2.7, gnome-applets 2.0.4 and gnome-panel 2.0.11. So it apperas in gnome1 and gnome2-apps. I have the exact same problem on two other pcs. I use gnome-panel and metacity as my desktop.
You mean the command-line applet ? Works fine for me. I don't have an applet named like that. you have gnome-libs around ?
The command-line applets executable is called mini_commander. I have gnome-libs 1.4.2.
i dont have that applet, can you confirm in which package-version exactly it is located ?
it is part of gnome-applets and is located at /usr/libexec/mini_commander_applet
ah thats the same, they probably renamed it by now. Well that one works for me. Are you sure they are the same problem ? I'm not sure if gnome1 apps are supposed to work perfectly. I only know that my gabber (gnome1) opens URL with the gnome2 setttings.
i have no idea where to start looking, afaik it should work.
