Description Volker Hemmann 2006-01-13 12:20:39 UTC
Hi,

I am subscribed to gentoo-user for a long time and gentoo-amd64 for some month now.

Since some weeks (?) ago, the mails I sent to this two lists just disappear.
I send them, and they are gone.

I am subscribed to several lists and have no problems with the non-gentoo lists.
Mails send as replys are lost too. When I do a reply-to-all only the mails directly to the user are received.

I do receive all the other mails, I just can't send and I do not get any error messages. The mails are just gone.

I am using KDE 3.5 and KMAIL as mail application.
Comment 1 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-14 11:09:02 UTC
I'm investigating the issue, some header in your messages is causing them to be
discarded.
Comment 2 Volker Hemmann 2006-01-14 11:36:24 UTC
oh great.

discarded, without any error, is not very userfriendly.

Do you want some mail headers from the beginning/middle of 2005 when it still worked?
Comment 3 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-14 11:50:54 UTC
Yeah it's not userfriendly but do you imagine how many spam with replies to
non existing/forged addresses we would send with that feature?

Headers from previous working emails is much appreciated. thx!
Comment 4 Volker Hemmann 2006-01-14 13:39:08 UTC
yeah, but I have written several hundred emails to gentoo-user over the time, so being quietly kicked out is not funny.

here is a header from July 2005:

Comment 5 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-17 01:37:40 UTC
Can you try and change your From header back to

From: Volker Armin Hemmann <volker.armin.hemmann@tu-clausthal.de>

without the " " ?
Comment 6 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-17 01:38:35 UTC
...and most important without the comma (we think that's causing the problem).
Comment 7 Andrea Barisani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-17 05:29:54 UTC
This should be fixed, please try with your standard configuration.
"," in From should work as expected now. Can you post on a ml and
confirm it? thx

Hi,

everything is back to normal - was a little bit shocking to see the mails from last week in my mailbox too.

Thank you very much.
