Description Triffid Hunter 2006-01-12 07:54:44 UTC
mouse cursor disappears and vanishes as it is moved around the work surface, and makes artefacts appear in menus

I need swcursor, as hwcursor+glx+composite=crash

only happens in blender, but makes the program unusable

nvidia 1.0.8178 driver, glx+composite enabled

Comment 1 Triffid Hunter 2006-01-12 08:04:38 UTC
just tried starting in a new X server with hwcursor and no composite..

one of the random keys I pressed attempting to elict a response created a little black box with a rapidly increasing number in it that followed my mouse cursor around. That was the only sign I got that blender was aware of the mouse...

blender didn't respond to mouse clicks _at all_ until i stumbled across alt+q (quit) where a click anywhere in the screen exited.

started it up again (and again), with the exact same behaviour.

recompiled with CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" and all behaviour mentioned still exactly the same
Comment 3 wayne tedder 2006-01-30 20:36:21 UTC
I would guess that the problem you are having is due to composite.

I would switch composite, and swcursor off if you want to use blender, as the blender interface is opengl.
Comment 4 Philip Walls (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-02-20 12:00:15 UTC
Triffid,

Is this still occuring with blender 1.41? If so, what version of X are you using? It's working fine here without compositing extension enabled.

nvidia-kernel 1.0.8178-r3
xorg 6.8.2-r6
blender 1.41
