I've noticed that kavi2svcd was removed from portages some weeks ago because it won't work with transcode versions 1.0.0 and greater.
I've installed kavi2svcd-0.8.5 with an own ebuild and transcode-1.0.2-r1 and tested it a long time with several video files, different options and different target formats ((s)vcd/dvd) and I could not find any problems. It works great with the new versions of transcode.

I've discussed this with flameeyes on irc and he told me, that I have to file a bug about this with a request for a new maintainer for kavi2svcd, because he won't add it back to portage again.

So here's the request for a new maintainer for kavi2svcd to add it back to the portage again.
Btw. I'm willing to maintain it by myself and also to create patches if there will be some little problems with transcode after all. But I'm no dev. *g*
