I recently tried to get a sshfs filesystem mounted at boot, but ran into a problem. The format for the fstab entries has the filesystem type as fuse, and I would imagine it is the same for all fuse based systems. Since fuse is not listed as a network fs in /etc/init.d/functions.sh, it tries to mount it before networking is up. This seems like a somewhat ugly workaround, as there are non-network based fuse filesystems, but short of duplicating the wrapper code fuse uses into baselayout, I'm not sure what to do. This affects all versions of baselayout as far as I can tell.
done, thanks
