Description Jeff Kowalczyk 2006-01-10 06:13:07 UTC
I emerged www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5-r9, upgrading from a previously fully functional www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5-r4. Many firefox extensions stopped performing their function, most noticeably "adblock+" and "noscript". Without these crucial tools, the web has become a blaring thicket of flash ads and flyovers.

The extension manager still functions, and some such as 'measure it' and 'web developer' don't seem to be affected. I uninstalled and reinstalled adblock+ and noscript, to no effect.

Unfortunately, www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5-r4 has been removed from portage, so I can't downgrade to confirm that all can be restored simply by reverting. Please investigate the changes from -r9 more closely, and see if the problem can be corrected or -r4 returned to portage in the interim. Thanks!

Clicking on bookmarked (heirarchy) or bookmark toolbar URLs no longer opens them under -r9. The user needs to middle-click, opening a new tab, to navigate to the URL.

I had experienced the reported behaviour for more than 24 hours, over several reboots. Suddenly, the symptoms disappeared. I don't know why, the only mozilla-related activity today was to remove 'color grabber' extension, which had been working under -r4 (or at least not breaking others).

I emerged the following ebuilds today, none of which should have an effect on the reported behaviour.

     Tue Jan 10 09:33:28 2006 >>> app-shells/bash-3.1_p5
     Tue Jan 10 09:36:35 2006 >>> sys-apps/shadow-4.0.14-r1
     Tue Jan 10 09:37:15 2006 >>> media-libs/libogg-1.1.3
     Tue Jan 10 09:38:11 2006 >>> media-libs/libvorbis-1.1.2
     Tue Jan 10 09:43:32 2006 >>> dev-python/ipython-0.7.0

Thanks, and sorry for the false alarm. I will report to this bug if the problem returns, but it seems to have corrected itself today. Thanks again.
