When searching quickly for the link, he doesn't have time to read the fine print. Can you imagine how fast you would be in web browsing if you read the whole page every time before you clicked on a link? I suggest to change the headline from "Portage introduction" to "Upgrading and Installing with the Portage"
I think that "Introduction" is a perfect name for this chapter, it's not just about installing and upgrading, but also contains information what is the Portage and describes some of the common problems with it. We also encourage users to spend an evening or two and read the whole Handbook before they start using Gentoo - for their own comfort in using our distro. Thanks for reporting, but it has to stay the way it's now.
