 This combination is generally discouraged.  Try re-emerging the package:

Still present in sys-libs/pam-0.78-r4.
Trying to rebuild with LDFLAGS='-Wl,-z,now' emerge pam doesn't solve the issue.

*shrug* it's a minimal problem and it's being solved in glibc. besides, it seems to be fixed in 0.99 anyway.
