Description Harald van Dijk (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-07 05:53:58 UTC
$ sudo emerge g-cpan
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) app-portage/g-cpan-0.13.02 to /
>>> checksums files   ;-) g-cpan-0.13.01.ebuild
>>> checksums files   ;-) g-cpan-0.13.02.ebuild
>>> checksums files   ;-) files/digest-g-cpan-0.13.01
>>> checksums files   ;-) files/digest-g-cpan-0.13.02
>>> checksums src_uri ;-) g-cpan-0.13.02.tar.gz
 * This ebuild will fail with collision-protect in place.
 * This ebuild is replacing a package that was previously
 * bundled with portage directly. Please disable
 * collision-protect for the installation of this package.

!!! ERROR: app-portage/g-cpan-0.13.02 failed.
!!! Function pkg_setup, Line 22, Exitcode 0
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

However, after bypassing that check, it actually installs just fine with collision-protect enabled now that the portage versions it mentions are history, so please consider removing it.

Yeah, better use a blocker for this.

This got fixed a while ago, but the bug was never closed, so doing that now. Thanks :)
