Anytime i open a pdf file it opens correctly. However, if i hit the little minimize button on the pdf file i am currently viewing inside of acrobat reader, the screen doesn't redraw correctly and the pdf file doesn't get minimized. however, a little black box gets drawn to the screen where the file should minimize to. I have tracked this down to being related to gtk+ and it happens with ~version gtk+-2.8.9 and with the latest stable version 2.8.8. Acrobat works fine with gtk+-2.6.10-r1 but GNOME 2.12 panel does not display when restarting xdm (it flicks on off at first) and the GNOME theme does not display correctly (i.e. i use Nuvola but it displays like a simplified version, no curved edges or fancy icons). I have not tried downgrading gnome-panel and gnome-themes to the latest stable version. #emerge info Portage 2.1_pre3-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r3, 2.6.14-nitro2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-nitro2 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1500MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre9 dev-lang/python: 2.3.4, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.13 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -pipe -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -frename-registers -fprefetch-loop-arrays -falign-functions=64 -mmmx -msse2 -msse" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium-m -pipe -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -frename-registers -fprefetch-loop-arrays -falign-functions=64 -mmmx -msse2 -msse" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks prelink sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aac aalib acpi acpi4linux alsa apache2 audiofile avi berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bluetooth bonobo bzip2 cdparanoia cdr composite crypt cups curl dbus dga directfb divx4linux dri dv dvd dvdread eds emboss encode esd ethereal evo exif expat f77 fam fbcon ffmpeg flac flash foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm ggi gif gimpprint glut gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal i8x0 idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 irmc ithreads jpeg lcms libg++ libwww lirc live lzo mad mhash mikmod ming mmx mmx2 mng mozdevelop mozilla moznocompose moznomail mozsvg mozxmlterm mp3 mpeg nas ncurses network nls no_wxgtk1 nojoystick nptl ogg oggvorbis openal opengl opie oss pam pcmcia pcre pda pdflib perl php png pnp postgres python quicktime radoen readline recode rtc samba sasl sdl slang speex spell sse sse2 ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts trusted type1-fonts udev unicode usb vorbis wavelan win32codecs wmf wxwindows x86 xine xinerama xlib xml xml2 xmms xosd xprint xv xvid xvmc yv12 zlib elibc_glibc input_devices_synaptics kernel_linux userland_GNU video_cards_radeon" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS Cheers, Sat
please try the 7.0.5 version in portage if that doesn't work we can't fix this because as you know we don't have the source of acroread so it would be difficult to fix. Try report a bug to upstream
The 7.0.5 version works. Thanks.
