I got a message where the whole body is contained in one application/x-pkcs7-mime: Content-Type: application/x-pkcs7-mime;smime-type=signed-data;name=smime.p7m; smime-type=signed-data; name="smime.p7m" X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.5.7232.53 Mutt displays only this: [-- application/x-pkcs7-mime is unsupported (use 'v' to view this part) --] When I use 'v' to view this part, I get message: Can't decrypt encrypted message! Unfortunately it doesn't say what child with what parameters failed with what error, nothing. Just a "something is wrong"-style error. I installed and configured mutt according to gentoo guide.

Well, the Gentoo guide to mutt doesn't cover SMIME as far as I know. You might want to take a look at the documentation under /usr/share/doc/mutt-*/ SMIME in Mutt needs configuration and doesn't work out of the box. I dont' consider this a bug, reopen if you disagree. Cheers, Ferdy
I suggest SMIME coverage to be added to the gentoo Mutt guide. I looked int /usr/share/doc/mutt*. The only occurence of the string "SMIME" is in OPS.SMIME.gz. It reads "OP_COMPOSE_SMIME_MENU \"show S/MIME options\"". This information doesn't make any sense at all.
I suggest the file OPS.SMIME.gz to be removed from /usr/share/doc/mutt*. /usr/share/doc is for documentation. For something to be a documentation it must make sense in some human language. The content of the OPS.SMIME.gz doesn't make sense in any human language. Therefore the content of the OPS.SMIME.gz isn't a documentation. Therefore it has nothing to do in /usr/share/doc/mutt*.
