I find the following issue occurring only with the openoffice 2.0.1 build from source, and not with openoffice-bin 2.0.1: after I install a template (using the File->Templates->Organize... dialog), it gets put it in ~/ooo-2.0/user/template and shows up under the My Templates folder. So far, so good. But when I next open up the Templates dialog, things look broken: instead of being listed under the My Templates folder, the template now looks like it's a separate folder of its own! There's some sort of malfunction here, but I don't understand what is going on. :( All I know is that I seem to have to switch to openoffice-bin to get working template functionality... so no KDE integration for me!
I can confirm that openoffice 2.0.1 (built from source) does have problems with templates. In my case, I moved templates that I had saved into /usr/lib/openoffice/share/template/en-US/*. openoffice-bin-2.0.1 has no problem with users accessing them. The built from source version (app-office/openoffice-2.0.1) does not "see" any templates in this directory at all, including those installed by the program itself. As with Eric, it is KDE integration that I was looking for.
Could indeed be a problem with the kde-integration, just to make sure: Try the same without kde-integration, start OOo with OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="none" oowriter and see if that changes anything, should give you the default "look & feel" and maybe also solve that problem.
(In reply to comment #2) Ok. Compiling app-office/openoffice-2.0.1 now (had switched back to app-office/openoffice-bin). Will test as instructed when it is finished -- sometime tommorow.
I just tried with openoffice 2.0.1 from source, and the setting of OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP doesn't affect this behavior; whether set to "none" or "gnome" the bug still occurs.
(In reply to comment #2) Ok, just got home from work and openoffice 2.0.1 is done compiling. No change in behavior using OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="none" oowriter2. I also ran oofromtemplate2 and it doesn't "see" any templates either. I double checked Tools -> Options -> Openoffice.org -> Paths -> Templates and it points to the correct directories.
I've updated the ebuild with the latest patchset from ooo-build, with this I don't get this problem anymore (could reproduce it before). Could you please "emerge sync", rebuild openoffice-2.0.1 and try again?
(In reply to comment #6) Looks good! That resolved the problem for me. Thank you, Andreas.
Great to hear that! Closing.
