Description donald webster 2006-01-04 06:49:45 UTC
Hey guys, my name is Donald (fryfrog) and I am a team member with the Gallery project. Recently Renat Lumpau <rl03@gentoo.org> sent us an email regarding our software being in portage.

First I need to point out that G1 and G2 are slightly different products, with G2 being the prefered product and G1 fitting a niche role of not using or requiring mysql.

So to keep new users from (accidentally?) using G1 when G2 is the newer, richer and better supported product... we were hoping G2 2.0.2 could be marked stable. Its been in use for a while now, G2 2.0 was released and 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 were security updates. G2 2.2 is slated for sometime in february also.

Also, G1.5.1 has been out for a while now and is considered "stable". G 1.5.2 is in RC currently.

You can see the G2 test matrix at http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Test_Matrix and since G2 has extensive built in tests it is usually quite easy to determine if it is working on a platform or not. Also, with tons and tons of users testing (and breaking) it on many platforms, its gone though a lot of trial by fire.

You can find the team in the forums at the above website, or you could use the gallery mailing list or just email me at fryfrog@gmail.com. I can answer questions or put you in contact with those who can.

I would also suggest differenciating the ebuilds for G1 and G2 a little bit, perhaps mentioning that G2 is "DB Driven".

Comment 6 Renat Lumpau (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-07 10:03:32 UTC
Ok, since we hit #118162, re-pinging all arches to stabilize 2.0.2-r1
Comment 7 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-07 22:41:51 UTC
Looks good on x86, but perhaps you want to touch the Manifest so it doesn't show that the ffmpeg file was modified during the setup? Just let me know either way and then I'll mark it stable.
Comment 8 Renat Lumpau (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-08 13:42:55 UTC
I don't think it's a big deal. I hear 2.0.3 will be released soon anyway.
Comment 9 donald webster 2006-01-08 13:54:32 UTC
It is G2 2.1 and G1 1.5.2 that are nearing release. G2 2.1 is probably 2 months away, G1 1.5.2 is probably a few weeks away. I don't think there will be a G2 2.0.3 unless any security issues are found (2.0.1 and 2.0.2 were ONLY security fixes).
Comment 10 Renat Lumpau (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-08 13:56:10 UTC
I see. In that case, I better figure out how to fix that manifest.
Comment 11 Renat Lumpau (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-09 07:12:35 UTC
Actually, I'd rather not. I've added a note warning users about the patch. arches, please go ahead and stable.
Comment 12 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-09 07:34:07 UTC
Sounds good, x86 done.

Thanks Renat.
Comment 17 Marc Sowen 2006-01-13 04:27:16 UTC
Almost everybody went stable on gallery-2.0.2-r1 except for AMD64. Any reason for this?
Comment 18 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-13 05:55:07 UTC
I have been really busy, webapp-config screwed up so it took me a while longer to test the updated gallery version. Tested now and marked stable on amd64 too.
Comment 19 Tobias Scherbaum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-14 13:26:15 UTC
