the dvired program in tetex does (rightly) not find the pstops program and exits. linking ps2ps to pstops is not a valid workaround, the syntax differs. i am not shure, though, whether tetex ought to provide this program or it should be a dependency of the package. propably a wrapper for ps2ps does the trick, but on my assortment of machines the error is reproducible and so ought to be fixed more apropriately than i could do.
with the new version of tetex dvired works fine, so i guess this bug is fixed.
This is not really important, but a resolution of WORKSFORME rather than FIXED would have been better.
