In a gensplash theme, I'm trying to use the text element as documented in: /usr/share/doc/splashutils-1.1.9.8/theme_format.gz <quote> text [flags] <font> [style] <size> <x> [left|middle|right] <y> [top|middle|bottom] <color> [exec|eval] "text" </quote> Every time I use this element with (testing with "splash_manager -c demo -t <name>") splash_manager complains: parse error @ <line of text element> My current text line (in my .cfg file): text silent /etc/splash/GentooOnTux/impact.ttf u 10 300 middle 300 middle #ffffff "12345" Portage 2.0.53 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 i686 Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.26GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig collision-protect distlocks sandbox sfperms strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://cudlug.cudenver.edu/gentoo/ http://gentoo.osuosl.org/ http://gentoo.cites.uiuc.edu/pub/gentoo/ ftp://cudlug.cudenver.edu/pub/mirrors/distributions/gentoo/ http://mirror.espri.arizona.edu/gentoo/ http://mirror.usu.edu/mirrors/gentoo/ ftp://mirror.usu.edu/mirrors/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirrors.easynews.com/linux/gentoo/ http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X acpi alsa apm arts audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cdr clamav crypt cups curl dga dio doc eds emboss encode examples exif expat fam fbcon ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran gb gd gdbm gif glut gmp gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal idn imagemagick imlib ipv6 java javascript jpeg kde lcms libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx mng mono motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pda pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba scanner sdl session spell ssl symlink tcpd tetex tidy tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb vorbis xml xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
Could you please try to upgrade to 1.1.9.10 (and make sure that the 'truetype' flag is set for splashutils)?
OK. I will try, and report in a moment.
Thanks, 1.9.10 fixed the problem.
~1.1.9.10
