Description Aaron 2005-12-29 18:42:50 UTC
Hal 0.5.5.1-r3 refuses to start.

 * Starting Hardware Abstraction Layer daemon ...
/sbin/start-stop-daemon: unrecognized option `--use-syslog'
Try `/sbin/start-stop-daemon --help' for more information. [ !! ]
Comment 1 Tomas Cohen Arazi 2005-12-29 18:51:56 UTC
/etc/init.d/hald says:
        start-stop-daemon --start -q --exec /usr/sbin/hald --use-syslog
It should be:
        start-stop-daemon --start -q --exec /usr/sbin/hald -- --use-syslog
note the missing '--'

Comment 4 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-29 22:46:05 UTC
Yes. I was rushing out the door getting dressed for work... and I retyped the file rather the scp'd it over and screwed up. It's fixed.
