checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate
checking whether stripping libraries is possible... yes
checking dynamic linker characteristics... GNU/Linux ld.so
checking SOSUFFIX from libtool... .so
checking MODSUFFIX from libtool... .so
checking JMODSUFFIX from libtool... .so
checking if javac works... configure: error: The Java compiler javac failed (see config.log, check the CLASSPATH?)

This has been never reproducible, post the output of 'java-config -L', 'java-config -c' and your java-config version and reopen then.

Comment 3 FieldySnuts 2005-12-29 07:38:51 UTC
Sure, not looking good though:

# java-config -L
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/java-config", line 14, in ?
    from java_config import jc_options
ImportError: No module named java_config

# java-config -c
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/java-config", line 14, in ?
    from java_config import jc_options
ImportError: No module named java_config

dev-java/java-config-1.2.11-r1

Perhaps I need to remerge java-config?
Comment 4 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-29 07:47:34 UTC
You need to run python-updated after upgrading python. Reopen with some useful information, not error messages from java-config. :=)
Comment 5 FieldySnuts 2005-12-29 08:45:18 UTC
Thanks, I didn't know about python-updater. Perhaps a case where it told me but was blown away by scrolling (it'd be a lot nicer to have that at the end, or in a text file)

# java-config -L
[blackdown-jre-1.4.2.03] "Blackdown JRE 1.4.2.03" (/etc/env.d/java/20blackdown-jre-1.4.2.03)
[blackdown-jre-1.4.1] "Blackdown JRE 1.4.1" (/etc/env.d/java/20blackdown-jre-1.4.1)
[blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03] "Blackdown JDK 1.4.2.03" (/etc/env.d/java/20blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.03)
[blackdown-jdk-1.4.1] "Blackdown JDK 1.4.1" (/etc/env.d/java/20blackdown-jdk-1.4.1)

# java-config -c
/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02/bin/javac

(In reply to comment #5)
> # java-config -c
> /opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.02/bin/javac

The above version does not exist on your system any more. You need to set your java implementation to some existing JDK version.
