Please, always put ebuild name and requested version into bug summary when filing version bump bugs.
Comment 3 James Kyte 2005-12-26 20:26:53 UTC
There is an ebuild available on their sourceforge page, http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=54091

The ebuild contains CRLF line terminators, but after a dos2unix it ran fine. There is a thread here http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2984443.html.

0.85 added to tree
Comment 5 Kathryn Kulick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-27 07:26:48 UTC
oops typo, my bad, 0.95 was added hehe
Comment 6 Yuri Vasilevski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-27 09:13:34 UTC
The ebuild should not remove (all?) utils dir on installation, else amsn will fail on start with error:

$ amsn
Error in startup script: can't find package framec
    while executing
"package require framec"
    (file "chatwindow.tcl" line 7)
    invoked from within
"source chatwindow.tcl "
    (procedure "reload_files" line 19)
    invoked from within
"reload_files"
    (file "/usr/bin/amsn" line 229)

As framec is located in utils/framec.
Also webcam support is in utils/webcamsn and some other things may be needed too.

Also the digest is wrong as the file on SF.net mirrors has another size and (obviously) md5sum.

Yuri.

it seems that the file amsn-0.95.tar.gz doesnt exist in the gentoo mirrors, when I emerge it I get:

--00:16:47-- ftp://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/amsn-0.95.tar.gz

it seems the sourceforge Download url is $server/sourceforge/amsn-0.95.tar.gz instead of $server/sourceforge/amsn/amsn-0.95.tar.gz where it can be found.

All fixed guys :)
Comment 10 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-02 16:01:48 UTC
There's a new problem, it seems. Upstream released a different package under the same URL[1]. It's a significantly smaller tarball and the contents differ as well:

f57e3c2c78a3c7d64c93a78be88846aa amsn-0.95.tar.gz # Downloaded through [1]
d153bf303f211b700213e2c93a50b13d ../../distfiles/amsn-0.95.tar.gz # Downloaded from [2]

It seems the second release as 0.95 fixes many bugs, but I haven't seen an official report on [3] about this. There may be a real security issue with the new release and I haven't investigated that.

I downloaded the first one using `ebuild amsn-0.95-r1.ebuild fetch`:

------------------
henke /keeps/gentoo/portage/net-im/amsn # ebuild amsn-0.95-r1.ebuild fetch

And the second one directly from [1]

I now tested this twice, downloading from several SF mirrors and refetching the Gentoo mirror tarball. Same result:

hpvis /keeps/gentoo/bugs/amsn # md5sum amsn-0.95.tar.gz ../../distfiles/amsn-0.95.tar.gz /keeps/amsn-0.95.tar.gz

the new ebuild
Comment 15 Boris Faure 2006-03-25 01:57:36 UTC
I've attached a new ebuild (it changes use flags, as Karol Krizka said it in that bug : https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125416) and it add a patch.
This patch should fix an issue with the amsn's autoupdater since it uses too much cpu at sourceforge.
I don't know how to add custom use falgs, so here are those:
debug : compiles with debug flag enabled
nolibng : use a former version of the webcam grabber (should be enabled only after testing if the webcam fails).

Greets
