When doing an 'emerge dev-libs/aterm' I get the following error:

ferdy p.masked dev-libs/aterm and dropped the ~alpha keyword for aterm-2.4.2 back on 21 Mar 2006 due to this bug and Bug #110660. I've looked at the code and the changes needed to port this to alpha are non-trivial and best left to upstream.

There is an upstream bug report requesting fixes for alpha:
