please submit more info: -the output of emerge info -which kdenetwork version are you using -a traceback would also be nice (if you compile kdenetwork with debug).

It's the same over here since i switched over to glibc 2.3.1. Actually I'm recompiling qt, kdelibs, kdebase and kdenetwork ... recompiling didn't help it. (several tries with "minor" optimisation)
Same problem here. Also seems to affect kvirc--submitting a dialog causes kvirc to crash.

Just noticed that kmail also chrashes when I leave the "Search Messages" screen, exactly the same way it does in the "Configure Filters" dialog. Can anybody confirm this?
Yes. It crashes here, too when exiting the "Search Messages" dialog just like when leaving "Configure Filters". I'm using kde-base/kdenetwork-3.0.5a on a fresh installed Gentoo 1.4rc1 (stable) with the vanilla kernel 2.4.20. mb@mb1 mb $ kmail mb@mb1 mb $ *** KMail got signal 11 (Crashing) KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2 KCrash: Application Name = kmail path = <unknown> pid = 14992 mb@mb1 mb $ kmail -v Qt: 3.1.0 KDE: 3.0.5a KMail: 1.4.3 mb1 root # emerge info Portage 2.0.46-r4 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.1, glibc-2.3.1-r2) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1500MHz USE="x86 -3dfx 3dnow aalib -acl afs -alsa apm arts -atlas avi berkdb bonobo -canna cdr -cjk crypt -cups dga directfb -doc dvd encode esd evo fbcon -flash -freewnn gb gd gdbm -ggi ggz gif gnome gnome-libs gphoto2 gpm gtk2 gtk gtkhtml guile -icc -iccpgo imap imlib innodb -ipv6 java jpeg kde -kerberos lcms ldap -libg++ libgda libwww -matrox maildir mbox mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg -mule mysql -nas ncurses nls nocardbus -oci8 -odbc oggvorbis opengl -oss pam -pcmcia pda pdflib perl pic plotutils png -postgres python qt qtmt quicktime readline -ruby samba sasl -scanner sdl slang -slp snmp -socks5 spell sse ssl -static svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype -trusted -voodoo3 -wavelan X xface xml2 xml xmms xv -zeo zlib" ARCH="x86" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -mcpu=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -mcpu=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" MAKEOPTS="-j2" JDK_HOME="/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.3.1" JAVA_HOME="/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.3.1" AUTOCLEAN="no" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" This bug is really annoying. -Markus-

Don. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now I'll give 3.1rc5 a try ... *sigh*
3.1_rc5 solved this.
That's really good to hear :-) Can everyone confirm that this is fixed in 3.1?
Yes, it's fixed in KDE 3.1.0/KMail 1.5.
fixed in kde-3.1 :)
