Description John Steele Scott 2002-12-04 23:00:50 UTC
!!! Cannot write to '/home'.
!!! Please check permissions and directories for broken symlinks.
!!! You may start the merge process again by using ebuild:
!!! ebuild /usr/portage/net-www/htdig/htdig-3.1.6-r4.ebuild merge
!!! And finish by running this: env-update

This is with the htdig-3.1.6-r4 ebuild.
For systems where /home is mounted over nfs from a server which squashes root,
this just can't work.

I'm not sure whether you count this as a bug with the build or something that's
my own fault for using nfs mounts. There is a similar problem with baselayout,
reported in #9849.

sorry but i dont consider this a bug.

the decision was made long ago that we'd use /home/httpd as
apache's data directory. there is no specified standard place
for this in FHS.

further, every distro seems to do their own thing anyway.

closing.
