which USE flags did you build it with ? Are you using the nvidia proprietary driver ?

I can't reproduce on my amd64 or x86 systems. Does it still happen with 1.5.x ? If you can reproduce, please try to find the source of the problem.. See http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/hardened/gnu-stack.xml
