Description Chris Johnson 2005-12-18 15:03:27 UTC
Hi,

I've tried to compile gcc-3.4.4-r1 several times now but every time I get the same error message which is as follows:

/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.4-r1/work/gcc-3.4.4/gcc/rtlanal.c:3512: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions.
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.
make[2]: *** [rtlanal.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.4-r1/work/build/gcc'
make[1]: *** [stageprofile_build] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.4-r1/work/build/gcc'
make: *** [profiledbootstrap] Error 2

!!! ERROR: sys-devel/gcc-3.4.4-r1 failed.
!!! Function gcc_do_make, Line 1312, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed with profiledbootstrap
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I also get a similar issue when compiling arts 3.4.3. Could these be linked?

Do you get it in the same exact spot everytime? The error is pretty generic, and normally means you have a hardware problem, probably RAM.

you neglected to post `emerge info`
