Description Haplo 2005-12-17 23:54:38 UTC
On my server I have in the rsync_excludes file among other things x11-* because my server doesn't use any x stuff. However lately emerge has been crapping out. After reading the gentoo newsletter about the new virtual system I took a look and indeed my servers tree is missing /usr/portage/virtual/x11/x11-6.8.ebuild but has the rest of the files in the /usr/portage/virtual/x11/ directory. I'm assuming this is what's causing the crash.

I'm not 100% sure this is really a bug. Is there a specific protocol or something I should be following in my rsync excludes like explicitly state each dir (but then I have to keep track of new x11 dirs added which there have been several of), or add virtuals as well (which doesn't seem like a good longer term plan at all).

Thanks

What you're after is "/x11-*". Paths that begin with a forward-slash are only matched against the beginning of the synced path name. Without a slash, it can match anywhere within the name.
