While mozilla-firefox-1.5 builds successfully on SPARC, it dies at runtime with bus errors. Sometimes a few minutes of usability can be obtained or sometimes the GUI isn't even painted to the screen before the bus error occurs. I've tried multiple iterations of CFLAGS including "-O1" and have seen no changes to the end result.
Have you tested -r3 yet, I believe I have worked out the textrel issue that might be throwing you under the bus :)
No change. We're still firmly under the bus.
Created attachment 79360 [details] strace of mozilla-bin from start to bus error Attachment is an strace from mozilla-firefox-1.5.0.1 from start to bus error. System is SB1000 (sparc64), profile=2006.0, kernel=2.6.15-r4.
Not sure if firefox supports toolbox=gtk, but thats what I use on SeaMonkey and it has this far worked like a dream on my Ultra10 (kernel 2.6.8.1,profile 2006.0) The ebuild I use for SeaMonkey is basicly the same as the Mozilla 1.7 ebuild, except that enable xft for gtk, repatch it to use the default mozilla key combinations (mozilla/seamonkey for linux are patched to use different keycombinations than the defaults due gnome2/gtk2 bug) and eclass have been set to use toolbox=gtk insteead of the "default" gtk2.
1.5.0.3 + debian patch @ http://www.wooyd.org/debian/firefox/firefox-bus-error.patch makes it work as found by Weeve. Now on to test against thunderbird.
