Description Dominik Kozaczko 2005-12-14 22:23:00 UTC
When I use console login and then run startx, then everything's fine. But when I
use gdm to log myself in, unicode support on terminal gets broken.
I followed official documentation to enable unicode.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make a file using unicode
2.see the file after startx
3.compare after logging through gdm

Actual Results:
as described - broken unicode after gdm login

Expected Results:
should work perfectly ;)

LANG="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_ALL="pl_PL.UTF-8"
USE="unicode"
Comment 1 Alexander Simonov 2005-12-15 05:52:04 UTC
Could you show output of locale command when you use startx and after you used
gdm ?
Comment 2 Dominik Kozaczko 2005-12-15 08:57:10 UTC
$ locale
LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=pl_PL.UTF-8

Results are equal for startx and gdm.
Comment 3 Alexander Simonov 2005-12-16 07:13:11 UTC
did you choose language in gdm from menu?
If yes try set it to default.

Comment 5 Dominik Kozaczko 2007-12-05 22:22:55 UTC
I thought I updated the status of this bug report. Choosing the language again in GDM helped. I had unchanged setting from previously installed system.Thanx, Alex Simonov :)
