I tried downloading quake4-demo, but after getting the file I get the following message: >>> md5 files ;-) quake4-demo-1.0.ebuild >>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-quake4-demo-1.0 !!! Digest verification Failed: !!! /data/portage/distfiles/quake4-linux-1.0-demo.x86.run !!! Reason: Failed on MD5 verification The files came from: http://downloads-3dg.planetmirror.com/pub/3dgamers/games/quake4/quake4-linux-1.0-demo.x86.run Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add "games-fps/quake4-demo ~x86 in /etc/portage/package.keywords 2. Type "emerge quake4-demo" 3. Actual Results: I can't install the game because of a bad MD5 check Expected Results: The files shouldn't be corrupt so the MD5 check doesn't fails Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-mtune=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-mtune=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/data/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/data/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/data/portage/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X alsa apm audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr crypt cups curl dts eds emboss encode esd exif expat fam ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif glut gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 idn imlib ipv6 jpeg kde lcms libg++ libwww mad matroska mikmod mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl spell ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev vorbis xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
I just deleted my local copy and let it download again and it matches the MD5 in the digest. There's nothing I can do about you getting a bad download.
Try grabbing it form the Id FTP server, or from the official Id Bittorrent.
i verified the file myself last nite with the URL mentioned here and with the id server ... looks like you just got a bum download
Ok, thanks for the comments. I'll try the sources from ID Software. Hopefuly that'll work :)
