When I try to browse my profile on MySpace, FireFox 1.5 crashes with the following message on the console: nicolas@niflheim ~ $ firefox No running windows found (Gecko:27896): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gsignal.c:1069: unable to lookup signal "activate" of unloaded type `MaiAtkObject' (Gecko:27896): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_emit_valist: assertion `signal_id > 0' failed GetBoundingMetrics (char *) plugin_get_value 1 plugin_get_value 2 plugin_get_value 1 plugin_get_value 2 NP_Initialize totem_plugin_new_instance Init scriptable instance mode 1 /usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 116: 27896 Segmentation fault "$mozbin" "$@" firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (139) In that profile I include the code to start a Windows Media Player object that fetches an mp3 on another server. I think this is what makes FireFox crash. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open firefox 2. go to http://www.myspace.com/niflheim 3. cry Actual Results: Firefox segfaulted Expected Results: The page should have loaded without problems (it works on Windows with same Firefox version) nicolas@niflheim ~ $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2100+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre11 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.osuosl.org/ http://adelie.polymtl.ca/ ftp://cs.ubishops.ca/pub/gentoo ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/ http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X alsa apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr crypt cscope cups dvd eds emboss encode exif expat fam foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif glut gpm gstreamer gtk2 hal howl idn imlib java jpeg kde lcms libg++ libwww mad mikmod mng motif mp3 mpeg ncurses nptl nptlonly ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcre pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sdl spell ssl svg tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb userlocales vorbis x86 xml xml2 xmms xv zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
This is a gtk+ issue. Mixing a stable system with testing if you only unmask what is required your are gonna have problems. I am unable to duplicate your problem using the lastest packages which are in testing.
