Description venomtoad 2005-12-10 14:43:19 UTC
While having an encrypted conversation a received message will occasionally be
displayed only as "[This message is encrypted]". This happens seemingly at
random, at an estimated frequency of once every 50 to 100 messages.
Occasionally encrypted mode is disabled as a result of this, which puts the user
at risk of sending a message in plaintext by accident. This issue was produced
using the ECC key algorithm in gnupg-1.4.2-r3, I have not tested it with other
key types.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Exchange keys and start an encrypted one-on-one chat
2.Send a good number of messages back and forth.
3.It will probably happen by the time you've received about 100 messages.

Actual Results:
The chat window produced this text, causing a message to be missed:
Encryption disabled
ChatUser: [This message is encrypted]

Encryption is often automatically re-enabled after this, but unfortunately not
always.

Expected Results:
It should have displayed the decrypted message. Encryption should not have been
disabled.
