i emerged seq24 this morning, and have since tried on three seperate occasions to play a midi file with it, each time my computer was rendered totally un responsive, and i had to manually reboot. i tried this once with jack sync enabled, once with no file loaded, and once with a file loaded. each time, the computer was rendered dead. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run seq24 from the command line 2. press the play button in the main window 3. reboot. Actual Results: machine is locked up. Expected Results: the playbar scrolls, midi signals are routed through alsa to various devices.. brian # emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r2 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.5-20050130, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r1, 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.11 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo ftp://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/gentoo/ ftp://cudlug.cudenver.edu/pub/mirrors/distributions/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X alsa apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 cdr crypt cups curl dvd eds emboss encode esd exif expat fam flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif glut gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 hal howl imlib ipv6 jack jpeg ladspa lcms libg++ libwww mad mikmod mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python quicktime readline sdl spell ssl tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev vorbis xml2 xmms xv zlib video_cards_i810 video_cards_i830 video_cards_i915 userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Closing this bug since the 0.6.3 version is really ancient and seq24-0.8.6 has been added to portage. Please file a new bug if you continue to experience problems with the latest version. Thanks.
