Attached ebuild for libvortex 0.8.7, probably the only BEEP implementation in C, still maintained. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Expected Results: Inclusion in portage

libvortex 0.8.8 is out, new TLS and SASL profiles support added. This ebuild depends on libgsasl >= 0.2.5, portage is still in 0.2.4, and the 0.2.10 is out. I will file a seperate bug on this. Still this ebuild can be used with USE=-sasl
Created attachment 75894 [details] libvortex-0.8.8.ebuild now uses virtual/gsasl
I'd like to lobby include this library in portage under net-libs/libvortex. They are maintaining current ebuilds alongside the main library over at sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=145682 There should be no confusion with BEEP, the defunct music player -- libvortex is a network development toolkit implementing the Block Extensible Exchange Protocol ("BEEP") meta-protocol in c. Current stable version appears to be 0.8.10. Again, net-libs/libvortext. ~x86 is ok here.
I am the one maintaining the ebuilds for libvortex on their website. You can find the update of the ebuild posted here for the latest version of the lib 0.8.10 on the project page at sf.net, or on the official website http://vortex.aspl.es/ It runs well (at least) on both x86 and amd64. I would appreciate both comments on the ebuild or a portage inclusion :) For more information on BEEP: http://www.beepcore.org/
Milton, I notice development work on beepcore-c has been been discontinued, leaving libvortex, as far as I know, as the only actively developed c-implementation for BEEP. Phil
Philip, Yes, as far as I know, libvortex IS the only BEEP implementation in C still alive. It is actively maintained and evolves nicely. Developers are reactive and I think Gentoo should support this kind of project.
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
