The current mplayer-bin has version info: MPlayer 1.0pre7try2-3.3.5-20050130.    
The current ~amd64 mplayer has version:  MPlayer 1.0pre7try2-3.4.4.  A more  
up-to-date mplayer-bin would be much appreciated.  Significantly, mplayer-bin  
does not recognize my dvb card, while mplayer does.  This is important to me  
because the 32 bit lavf demuxer seems to work while the 64 bit one doesn't,  
and the lavf demuxer solves some problems for me.

1.0_pre7 is the latest version available. Those other numbers refer to gcc
version it has been compiled with.
