Description Ed Catmur 2005-12-07 19:05:55 UTC
Installed:
  epiphany with USE=firefox
  mozilla-firefox 1.5
  mozilla 1.7.12-r2
  liferea-1.0_rc4

Click on a link in liferea, and epiphany opens and then crashes.
Examination of /proc/<pid>/maps shows the epiphany process has open libs from
both /usr/lib/mozilla and mozilla-firefox, which is the cause of the crash.
Reason is that liferea wrapper script sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/mozilla.
This happens even when liferea is compiled with firefox as gecko provider,
because liferea wrapper script lets MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME in env override
compile-time gecko setting.
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME in env comes from /etc/env.d/10mozilla.

Suggest the liferea wrapper script be removed; it isn't needed on Gentoo, as the
gecko html plugin is linked correctly.

thanks for pointing this. i didn't even notice that it is a shell script, nor
could I imagine this ::))

The GNOME team has removed itself from liferea's metadata quite a while ago, so please take that into account while assigning bugs.

Regarding liferea I know that it needs a little love, but I'm currently too busy with my real job and was devaway until a few days ago. I'll try to have a look at all outstanding liferea issues ASAP.
Comment 3 Ed Catmur 2006-02-14 11:59:01 UTC
liferea 1.0.4 does not install a wrapper script.
